MXS Robotics Team

Hello MXS Robotics Team members or students interested in joining the team!

If you are a member of the team, please write about your experience.  Also, do you plan on joining the team next year?

If you are not a member yet, why would you like to join the MXS Robotics Team next year?

Thanks!

Mr. Ferriero

  1. Robotics has become a big and awesome hobby in my life it has pushed me to build teamwork and socialize more with people and showed me that anything is possible our coach is awesome and a heartfelt person and he makes sure that we are good in any way possible and I love the way my teammates look out for me and the others and they show sympathy for other peoples feelings as well and I would love to join back again next year of course.

  2. My experience on the MXS team was amazing! We all got along and came together to build our awesome robot we got to bring to competition. Being in robotics enabled me to meet new people that otherwise would’ve never met before. Even out of robotics we are still friends. I always had an interest in building and the fact that the MXS robotics team is student led, it makes it even better! I really do enjoy this robotics team and will plan on joining the team next year. Next year would count as my third year in MXS robotics!

I enjoyed learning how to build a machine and exploring the different areas that I didn’t have that much experience with at first

  4. I am Tammy Frimpong. A member of the MXS Robotics team. I have been a part of the Robotics team since last year and it’s been nothing but tremendous. My experience with MXS robotics team was amazing this year when we attended two trips to compete with other schools with our robot. I got the chance to learn about how different types of robots work, the importance of teamwork and above all our Coach, Mr. Nicholas Ferriero made sure that we were able to compete with our competitors which ended up being successful.

I definitely intend to join the robotic team next year to really form a solid understanding of engineering and software development.

  6. My time on the robotics team has been great! I was the co-safety captain and I helped build the robot. The time we spent building the robot was a fun experience and I learned a lot during the building and the competition. The robotics community was friendly and helpful as well in helping us become and even better team than we already are.

  7. This year the MXS robotics team was a lot of fun. Building the robot from scratch and having my peers help me through the process was a lot of fun. This team helped me learn a lot about robots and engineering. Mr.Ferriero helped and coached us. I am great-full for all the knowledge he has given me.

  8. I was the captain of the robotics team this year and so far my experience was amazing. I got to see a new side of robotics that was unexpected but extremely pleasant. I saw a whole new environment of people who had just as much love and enthusiasm about the same subject as me. I got to connect to people who are not from the same community as mine and learn about team work, communication and of course robotics. Through this whole journey me and my team has been lead by an amazing and supportive couch/mentor who was always ready to hear out input and encouraged us to take a more responsible role as a part of the team instead of just sitting in the background. Robotics is something that has definitely developed my love for engineering and STEM in general, I look forward to it next year.

  9. My name is Abdulgafar Lawal, I was the captain of the software team and one of the drivers for the robot. Though isn’t my first year doing robotics, it was still a very interesting and educational experience. Our robotics process this year was built on prior knowledge of previous members and new information we absorbed from research. Though this was our mentor’s first year in the fro robotics program he made his priority to make us the students the experts. While building and programming the robot I also learnt some valuable skills like coding, soldering and multiple safety procedures that helped us be as safe as possible. During the robotics competition we had to learn time management because we had to be aware of the schedule of our preset matches. We also got a lot help from Technology high school, they helped us with vital knowledge which was crucial to our building process. Matches during competition were intense and competitive but despite the competition every team was willing to help you in whatever way possible. This is an experience I am looking forward to this coming year as it was educationally priceless.
